Between Brexit, Rugby World Cups, and Rebekah Vardy, it’s a miracle anything has gotten done at all this year. Thankfully, we’ve all powered through and we’re ready for the onslaught of 2020. Before we head into the busy festive period, we thought we’d give you a roundup of what’s been done this year and what’s coming up next year.

 

 

2019 

It’s been a doozy folks. We’re all aware that this industry is tough and for many of our clients across the world, there’s an increasing skills shortage.

That’s why we’ve spent a lot of this year improving how ResDiary works to make life simpler for you and your staff.

We’ve also added 10 new partnerships, many of them EPOS and PMS so your teams are more efficient, alongside consumer integrations to help bring more customers.

 

The Big Four of 2019

 

Reserve with Google 

Let’s start with the biggie. The Google partnership. Launching in June, it brought commission-free bookings to our venues across the world. In the first five months, it sat well over a million diners and the numbers grow every month! 

 

Reporting 

There’s no denying we live in a data-led world. That’s why we spent a chunk of 2019 overhauling our Reporting Suite. We’ve created a new booking report, made it easier to pull data across groups, added incomplete bookings lists, added filters, and so so much more.

 

Payments 

We’re nothing if not sticklers for the rules and regs, and it’s no different when it comes to payments. We’ve put all the pieces in place for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), so whenever it becomes mandatory, you’ll be ready. 

 

Partnerships and integrations 

This year has been all about making friends. We’ve added more than ten new partnerships in 2019, including Impact Data to improve your marketing and retention, Facebook Messenger ChatBot Feebi, HOP Software PMS, and so many more.

 

 

We’re a bit scared of getting all cheesy and doing a “as we look forward to the next year” type of post, complete with pictures of fireworks and engagement rings, so we’re just going to tell you what we’re up to with no further ado:

It’s the one you’ve been waiting for; our Events system. A few of our users have been BETA testing it for us and have provided us with brilliant feedback. (Thanks guys, you’re the BESTA!) So much so that we’re ready to roll it out to all accounts. Of everything being released this year, ResDiary Plus on Android is the one we can’t wait for. Our iOS version has been so popular that we thought it was only fair for everyone else to have access too. While the first version won’t be as advanced as the desktop app, it’ll allow you to run your service from your Android device, with more improvements and releases throughout the year.

Already available in New Zealand, we’ll be launching a brand new version of ResDiary: ResDiary Lite. Perfect for those who are making the jump from paper to electronic diary, it will also integrate with our new diner booking app, Dishcult. (Also launching soon!)

We’re updating the diary! It’ll still be the ResDiary you know and love, but we’re updating the diary’s user experience and how it performs. It’ll make your life easier because honestly, hospitality can be hard enough as it is.

Have you ever moved your sofa and realised you can better see the TV,  the side table is within arms’ length, and there’s no glare from the window? That’s what we’re doing with our Settings pages: a big switch up so pages are easier to find, the layout is more logical, and you get to spend more time with your guests and less with your laptop.

It’s been a big 2019 focus and that’s no different in 2020. We love data, you love data, and you’re going to *love* our Reporting Suite when we’re done. We’re making our already lovely dashboard even lovelier and adding more great stats, and creating reports that will help you get even more out of the business.

We’ve got a new friend! To help fill your seats and make you even more discoverable to hungry diners, we’ll be launching a partnership with brand new booking platform Dishcult. We can’t give away all the good stuff yet but it’s a bit of a market game-changer with experiences, atmosphere ratings, high-level customer info, and loyalty all built in.
