Shears Yard

Set in an old ropeworks, Shears Yard is the epitome of up-and-coming Leeds, the kind of place that wouldn’t look out of place in some of the coolest cities in Europe. Exposed brick, stripped back table-ware, and hanging lights give it a relaxed vibe while still making it feel like an upmarket place to have Sunday lunch. And what a lunch it is. Choose from pork shoulder, beef sirloin, or nut loaf to satisfy your Sunday roast cravings, or venture out with a ploughman’s board or sauteed morel & king oyster mushrooms. If you’re struggling through a hangover, they even do delicious cocktails that will perk you right up.

Lamb and Flag

Sundays are made for lazing around. Which is why the relaxed Lamb and Flag is the perfect place to head if you’re looking for Sunday lunch in Leeds. Situated in an old building and run by respected local brewery, Leeds Brewery, The Lamb and Flag mixes a chilled atmosphere with delicious food (and great beer, obviously.) The food changes seasonally, but one thing that never changes is their famous Sunday roast. There’s usually a choice of a few meats, including a veggie option, and their Yorkshire puddings are some of the fluffiest in the land. Go on, be a sheep and follow the crowd to this brilliant Sunday spot.

Man V Roast

Part restaurant, part challenge, Man V Roast is one of THE top places to go if you’re looking for an amazing Sunday roast in Leeds. With six (yes SIX) roasts to choose from every day, there’s going to be something that will suit even the pickiest eater in your group. Instead of being told what you’re having by a menu, you pick all your own components, meaning if you fancy a sausage with your roast chicken, you shall have a sausage with your fried chicken friend! You don’t even need to book, just rock up and join the queue. And if you’re feeling a little too delicate to leave the house, they will do a full roast delivered to your house.

Midnight Bell

We’ve always been quite vocal in our deep love for a right good pub at ResDiary, and so that’s what we’re bringing you. A brilliant spot come rain or shine, the Midnight Bell has a great beer garden for when the sun is shining, and is lovely and cosy inside if it’s not. Their huge menu covers all the bases with classic burgers and steaks, and tagines and halloumi for the more adventurous. Oh, and of course they serve a roast on a Sunday. As if you had to ask. Best of all, they’re dog friendly, so if you hate leaving Rover at home while you have a good time, there’s absolutely no need to.

Art’s Cafe

Art, culture, and a right good feed? Surely that’s what Sundays are all about and thankfully, Art’s Cafe has it all. Billing itself as “Leeds’ first cafe bar” Art’s Cafe also operates as a gallery, with new artists’ work featured every six weeks. It means you can pop in for a bite to eat and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art. The laid-back atmosphere makes Art’s Cafe a great place to head with the whole family, their varied menu providing something for everyone. A stand-out favourite is the sesame and mirin glazed pork belly, while the desserts , including kiwi and passion fruit pavlova, are some of the best in Leeds. What are you waiting for? It’s culture and food in one!

Dakota Deluxe

Perhaps not the place to head in your Wellingtons after a long walk around the fields, Dakota serves an upmarket version of your traditional Sunday lunch in Leeds. Their Sunday lunch menu is dominated by their roasts section, with treats like butter roasted lemon and thyme chicken and a rump of lamb, served with goose fat potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. However, if you fancy something a little lighter, they also do dishes like pea and mint ravioli and organic salmon. Afterwards, grab a seat in their gorgeous champagne bar and while away the end of the weekend in style.

The Griffin

Not your typical chain pub, this Greene King establishment is famous for their Sunday roasts and gorgeous interiors. Traditional bar in some parts, The Griffin also features a white tiled seating area that is reminiscent of the London Underground. We always think that a pie on the menu is a sign of great things to come, and The Griffin has three of them, served all week long. They also have four roasts, with a great veggie option, meaning everyone will be happy if you come here for Sunday lunch
