Jaan

If you’re looking for fine dining in Singapore, Jaan will always be high up the list. Michelin-starred and one of Asia’s Top 50 Restaurants 2017, it’s a spot everyone should visit at least once. The food tastes beautiful and looks even more so: everything is so stunningly presented that you’re never sure whether to eat it or make it the centrepiece of a photoshoot. Chef de Cuisine, Kirk Westaway, brings his knowledge of modern techniques to showcase premium ingredients while they’re in season. He takes classic dishes like snapper and twists them with additions like pumpkin to create an unexpected dining experience. Try out the spanner crab with caviar, one of our favourites from the menu which was so visually beautiful we almost couldn’t eat it.

Zafferano

Italians are known for their laid-back cool and extreme elegance, so it only seems right that the second restaurant on this list should showcase Italian foods. Oozing style and refinement, Zafferano showcases the best Italian cooking, right here in Singapore. With sections for del mare (from the sea) and dalla terra (from the land), there are many choices to keep everyone in your party happy. Primi includes a mix of pastas, risottos, and gnocchi, or try the more substantial dishes secondi dishes like Black Angus beef or roasted sea bass fillet. You can even select three dishes from the a la carte menu to create your own unique tasting menu. The service is friendly, the food is gorgeous, and the setting is beautiful: the perfect mix for fine dining in Singapore.

Rhubarb le Restaurant

Another one of Singapore’s Michelin-starred venues, Rhubarb Le Restaurant is one of the jewels of Singapore’s foodie crown. Serving up modern French cooking, it’s one of the best spots for fine dining in Singapore. The space itself is refined and intimate and with just seven tables in the restaurant, guests know that they will be treated spectacularly. Despite the name, there is very little rhubarb on the menu here, but the nine course tasting menu does give you a little of almost every other flavour. Savour scallops, Wagyu beef, the finest artisan french cheeses, and an apricot dessert that includes a popcorn ganache and granola – delicious. Wine pairing is available and is completely worth the extra cost to taste the huge selection of wines from the old and new worlds.

ilLido at The Cliff

It seems pretty clear that the ResDiary team love pasta huh? Another fantastic Italian restaurant, the ilLido at The Cliff is not one to visit if you’re afraid of heights as it literally sits atop a cliff (the name may have given you a clue). A stunning terrace overlooks the drop and is a great place to enjoy a drink before, or after your meal. All the pastas and risottos are handmade on the premises, meaning you know you’re getting the freshest possible dishes. The flavours of classic ingredients like Angus Beef tenderloin are heightened by interesting takes, our favourite being the addition of pumpkin, and the classic Italian desserts are ridiculously tempting. Round off a great meal with a classic apertif or be cheeky with a glass of Italian Prosecco.

Mikuni

Part of the famous Fairmont Hotel, Mikuni is one of our favourite spots for fine dining in Singapore. Leading with a Japanese menu, guests can choose dishes from three stations; teppanyaki, sushi, and robatayaki. Each station is headed up by a master chef who serves up delicious dishes with a skill that crosses decades of Japanese cooking. Go for a tasting menu (which is expensive enough for you to be reassured that you’re going to have a great meal) or try out the a la carte menu. We went for the a la carte and favourites were the soft shell crab with tomato and avocado and, of course the sushi, which was some of the best we’ve tasted outside of Japan. If you’re the drinking kind, there’s a massive selection of Japanese whiskey and sake to try, or simply relax with a nice beer.
